Privacy Policy

This Policy explains what personal information BLC Plant Hire collects, why, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, telephone number, and login credentials (via Firebase Authentication).
• Listing information: equipment details, photos, region, pricing and availability you provide.
• Transaction information: bookings, bids, quotes, leads and messages sent through the Platform.
• Technical information: device type, app usage and analytics data.
• Communications: enquiries, chat messages and SMS notification preferences.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and Listings.
• To facilitate bookings, bids, quotes and communication between Users.
• To send transactional SMS and email notifications (e.g. booking confirmations, outbid alerts).
• To review Listings, prevent fraud and enforce our policies.
• To improve the Platform and, where you consent, to send marketing.

3. Sharing of information

To make the marketplace work, certain information is shared with other Users.

• Equipment Owner contact details are shared with a Hirer/Buyer once an enquiry, booking or bid is made, so the parties can complete the transaction.
• On the Wanted Equipment Board, the identity of the buyer who posts a request is kept anonymous to the public; only the request details are shown.
• We use trusted service providers (e.g. hosting, Firebase, SMS gateway, payment providers such as PayToday) who process data on our behalf.
• We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data storage and security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and you share information at your own risk. Where data is processed by third-party providers, it may be stored on servers outside Namibia in accordance with those providers' safeguards.

5. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and thereafter only as long as necessary to meet legal, accounting or dispute-resolution requirements.

6. Your rights

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal retention.
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time.

7. Cookies and analytics

The Platform may use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings.

8. Children

The Platform is not intended for persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
