This Cookie Policy explains how the BLC Plant Hire website uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies. It supplements the BLC Plant Hire Privacy Policy and explains how you can choose whether to allow optional marketing cookies.

1. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small pieces of data stored by a browser and sent with later requests. The Platform also uses browser storage technologies such as local storage and session storage to remember limited interface and session-related information on the device.

2. Essential BLC Session Cookie

When you sign in, BLC sets an essential cookie named blc_session. It is used to maintain the authenticated BLC session and allow protected account and workspace features to function.

• The cookie is HTTP-only, which means normal browser scripts cannot read it.
• In production it is sent only over secure HTTPS connections.
• It uses SameSite=Lax and applies across the BLC website path.
• It expires in line with the BLC server-side session expiry policy.
• It is essential for signed-in use of the Platform and is not used for advertising profiling.

3. Authentication and Notification Technologies

BLC uses Firebase Authentication for sign-in and multi-factor authentication. Firebase may use browser-managed storage to maintain the authentication state required by its client software. If you enable browser push notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging and the browser service worker may also store notification tokens or related browser data needed to deliver notifications.

4. Local Storage Used by BLC

The current website may use local storage for limited functional purposes, including:

• remembering BLC session timing information used to display and coordinate session-expiry behaviour;
• remembering equipment listings you save on the device;
• remembering whether the workspace navigation is open or closed; and
• remembering progress in an equipment listing form so the interface can return to the relevant step.

These values are stored in the browser rather than sent automatically with every web request.

5. Session Storage, Marketplace Measurement and Optional Marketing

The Platform may use short-lived session storage to avoid recording the same paid-promotion impression repeatedly during one browser session. BLC also records privacy-conscious marketplace activity such as promotion impressions and clicks to provide aggregate platform analytics. This does not require a third-party advertising cookie.

If you agree to optional marketing cookies, BLC also uses Meta advertising tools to understand visits to public website pages and measure advertising performance. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies and remain off unless you choose to allow them.

6. Third-party Services

Some BLC features rely on service providers such as Firebase and payment, hosting, messaging or media providers. When you interact with a provider-supported feature, that provider may process technical information or use its own storage in accordance with its terms and privacy documentation.

If you allow marketing cookies, Meta may receive information about visits to BLC public pages for advertising measurement. You can read more about how BLC handles personal information in our Privacy Policy.

7. Your Choices

You can choose Accept All Cookies, Essential Cookies Only, or Customize Preferences. Essential cookies keep BLC secure and working. Optional marketing cookies are used only if you give permission.

You can update your choice whenever you wish using Cookie settings in the website footer. Turning off marketing cookies stops BLC's future optional marketing tracking. It cannot undo information already sent before you changed your choice.

You can delete or block cookies and browser storage using your browser or device settings. Blocking the essential blc_session cookie will prevent signed-in BLC features from working correctly. Clearing local or session storage may reset saved interface preferences, saved listings or in-progress form state.

8. Changes and Contact
